Ek Cutting Chai!!

It all began with a small cup of tea. Bored with that tea cum water we get in our hostel, I decided to visit this chai valla on the roadside. I saw him prepare tea and pour it in small glass for me and then chit chat with other customers he had that evenin. Trying to get along with the people around, and may be also trying to ignore about his meager income he earns from the stall.

We never notice such small chai vallas, sabji vallas, and rickshaw vallas on the road that we pass by every day. It was not only Infy, Wipro, Tata or Ambani s that were hit by the recession. The real impact was on these small people who lost their jobs on per day basis and government provided no help.

On asking he told this work fails to fulfill his basic necessities and there’s nothing else he can do to help himself. He has no money to hire people from outside henceforth; he takes help from his two younger sons. That means there’s no education for them too. There are times when MC van come ringing its bell and he has to leave his stall and run away just to save himself from further hardships. And that gives rise to another bribe story. India is aiming double digit growth rate. But after meeting this man, I wonder where is the growth? Is this the development our politicians are taking pride in?

Ambani s still have big palatial houses to live in and also people in IT sector who lost their jobs or atleast dealt with some deductions in their salaries, can survive. They are still secured back home with basic necessities and a little more in their pockets. But what about these people? How will they survive? I did nothing for them just like you! But after my interview with this fellow I decided that I will open my own business. India needs young entrepreneurs, young ideas, zestful people! And I fail to understand why we serve MNCs of other countries.

May be my firm will provide employment to some and yours to some – maybe we can make INDIA a better place to live!

  2. indeed people belonging to the lower strata of the society are hit the most with every depression... govt. should take care of them first instead of poking its nose in the matters of Ambanis or providing space to Tatas for Nano project.

  3. i totally agree wid Jagmohan...y shud v waste r tym n energy in serving MNCs wen v cn set up r own business n instead provide employment to others..I would definitly lyk to b d 'Employer' instead of d 'Employee'...n we shud nt wait for some1 to help us, to rescue us frm recession,to make policies fr us...Remember..'being born poor is nt ur fault, bt dying poor certainly is!!'

  8. Hey,that was really a thought provoking article,
you are right that we all are tied down by the 2 P's i.e packages and profits. But there is a world beyond that too..what the government is doing and what not, first we have to mend ourself.Problem today we face in India is allegation and counter allegation, with that kind of attitude we can never get what we desire..lets just work not just for ourselves but in real sense for the nation, then I am pretty sure India will not be considered as a developing nation that i am hearing since childhood and still hearing and god only knows what, my kids will hear..!!!!!
Was indeed a gud work...keep it up!!!!

  12. Inevitably an apt article capable of arousing enthusiasm...we are just confined to ourselves...Over the past 60years, India decided to focus on creating world-class educational institutions for the elite, whilst neglecting basic literacy for the majority...CHEERS!!!! to our Government where plans are formulated and executed in their own pockets...
    Gud work Jaggi...

  15. hey jagmohan...great job.....well in our economy the role of MNC's can NOT be ignored but as young entrepreneurs we all can try and take few steps like opening our own firms to provide employment to the unemployed people of our nation....factors affecting the growth of our economy can be eradicated if people like us take such steps as you have decided to take through your article......small beginnings lead to great achievments...great work keep it up..hope to hear more from you through such blogs..all the best..!!

It has played a drastic role in making lives of the poorer worst... I can understand how badly recission can trouble one me being one of them.. :(
